There is a Reason Why We Crave the Suga Suga

Have you ever felt like you were in the right direction for a change in healthy lifestyle and then something took it right out of your hands…?🙃🦙🍌

Trust me, you’re not the only one.

Fun fact: food addiction is a real thing and there is a physiological reason for why we crave certain foods🧠

Refined processed carbs and fats are quickly metabolized and absorbed into the blood stream. This facilitates a change in brain chemistry, causing the brain to be flooded with good-feeling neurotransmitters, such as Dopamine and Serotonin.

Your body then goes through what we call, Euphoria.✨ This period of time is quick but enough to make the brain crave more of that good feeling. Your brain goes on a constant search for the thing that caused it to feel so good in the first place and just like that your body begins to indulge in binge eating🍬🍦🍪🍭🍩

One thing I found alarming is that manufacturers will add more sugar when fat is reduced so it increases your brain’s responsiveness to the food and keeps you coming back for more.

So next time you buy reduced fat foods, be careful to make sure extra sugar wasn’t added as a replacement for that “healthy” snack (sneaky sneaky)👀

Are you a victim of this addiction? I am. But I’m consciously aware of this reality now and ready to reverse my mindset.

Does anyone have any healthy snacks to eat that are high fiber and protein and low fat? I would love suggestions 😊
