Beyond Diabetes Today is a big day. Today we wrap up another week, another month, and the last day of the #happydiabeticchallenge.
I’ve enjoyed partaking in this challenge and reflecting on the different aspects of diabetes and all the highs and lows we all go through. I’m thankful for this diabetes community and to see so many positive people changing the negative stigma on diabetes.
The last challenge today is “beyond diabetes”. For me, beyond diabetes is everything else that makes me who I am.
I’m a soon-to-be 25-year-old, PT student who has an undeniable love for travel, people, and the little things in life
I wanted to create this account to educate and illustrate how someone can be more than their diagnosis. When you meet someone who is diabetic, don’t say “I’m sorry” or “that sucks”. Ask them about their personal journey with diabetes and understand their own feelings towards their diagnosis. Don’t automatically assume it’s a negative factor in their life because it’s something that makes them unique and oh so sweet.
I live beyond my diabetes but I’m not the only one.
I’ve connected and met some amazing people who are advocating and living their lives boldly with diabetes. And that makes me even more proud to be a part of this dia-community!
Diabetes awareness month is coming to an end but our advocacy will live by example!
Keep rockin’ at life and showing the ‘Beetus who is the boss of your body!
Much Love, Sugar B
